Another stopgap solution is to use Safari in Private Browsing Mode, since this mode is designed to not contact Apple's servers for search and autocomplete suggestions. If so, this suggests the omnibox pretender is kicking in as the prediction probability is high and that is at least tickling the crash. This bug is pretty much about that. Tooltip shows the reason. May be Rapport related, I think that got installed on my machine a few weeks back too, which is about when I started noticing this problem.

To disable Safari Suggestions, open the Settings app, tap Safari, and turn off the switch for Safari Suggestions. weblink I've never been able to repro typing any other letters Let me know if there's any more debugging info I can provide. Issue 178071 is conops tracking it (I think). Safari will still show up in the program switcher if I double tap the Home button and if I select it opens to a BLANK page, not my normal home page.

Have changed almost every Safari setting in "Settings" to no effect. Windows 7 home 64 bit Chrome Version 37.0.2062.124 m Noticed it seemed to start after I'd reinstalled 'Rapport' (banking security software required by many online banks). When typing an 's' or 'f' character, and deleting it, and typing it again, I can't get past ~5 repeats before it shuts down.
The implications of this crash are very bothersome.
Updating Rapport fixed the problem - but then a different problem with Chrome started occuring. Updates happen fairly frequently, so hang on tight.
