The benefit from working on the screen of the 2209WA will be far more as versus the screen of the laptop. Better picture but lower response times.
My XP10 machine is an i7 with some low end ATI card in it for right now and I'm lucky if I can pull 20FPS with everything cranked down to low. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads. Distinguishing performance from scalability, I'm interested in how things scale across 3 monitors (about 5900 x 1080 pixels), not how things run at 1080P. This also requires Yosemite or el Capitan for the GTX 970.If you plan on running Windows, then things are a bit more straight forward when it comes to drivers and installation. Also I was starting to hit the 3GB VRAM limit which was resolved with the 980Ti's 6GB capacity. I would be watching DVDs with the machine though. Otherwise you could get a TN panel monitor with a glossy screen (I know that LG has some of those). The profile could have been reset after a driver update. IPS won't have those fast response times than TN does but it has a much better black level and a better viewing angle. Uses FB-DIMMs, too.
