It apparently prevents my computer from starting.
I was told that the card would automatically be recognized and to install the drivers after installation of the card itself. it just may be the case the whole system and all components including the new GPU just isn't enough power. I tried all of this and nothing worked. Go into BIOS. It seems the Intel card has to be enabled for it to recognize the Nvidia is there. I've had the computer for a year, but I've only just now noticed that the computer is not switching to the Nvidia card while playing games. So, the toggle won't matter since I used HDMI for my old car as well.

Make sure in BIOS the PCI-E slots aren't disabled on the security tab, then install the correct drivers from nVidia. Then you can locate the 8800gt driver you have saved, run the installer and set the mode/res as you want.
